Signals from the Barracks

Entry stones to the Victory Garden, at the center of CCOC’s Beaver Barracks.
The complex is an environmentally sustainable housing development located in downtown Ottawa,
between the Canadian Museum of Nature, the YMCA and Ottawa’s Police station.
The Heartglass, a 12 foot high, stylized pergola, blends ancient, heritage + environmental concepts;
inspired by the kindness of the garden design + the ripened fruit of the site’s mature cherry trees.
The sun’s daily movement casts colored light to the ground plane, that travel across the garden beds all year long.
Home Plane is informed by collaboration with Beaver Barracks residents + ideas of belonging.
The multiple translations for “home” reflect Centretown’s many cultures.
